Ticket To The Moon

Hammock Underquilt

  • £120

Hammocks are incredible to relax in during the day, but if you have tried to sleep in one overnight you will find that you lose heat underneath really quickly. This is because you will be crushing the loft in your sleeping bag and reducing its insulating property and the air underneath you is replaced to quickly so it wont warm up.. There are two ways to fix this so you can sleep in your hammocks overnight. The first option is to slide a blow up mattress underneath you, this provides a consistent air barrier that once warm will stay warm under you, but will limit your mobility and comfort within the hammock(and has a habit of sliding into being parallel with the ridgeline which you dont want) . The second option is an underquilt. These are like a sleeping bag for your entire hammock, they hang under your hammock trapping all the air below you allowing you to create a pocket of warm air under your entire hammock, not limiting you in how you can move and lie within the hammock.

The Ticket to the Moon Underquilt is built to last, made of tough 70D polyester, it weighs a little more but will last through many adventures. With TTTM's trademark silky feel on the inside, and a synthetic insulation that does a an incredible job for the price tag. It also has a water resistant outer layer to it so in inclement weather, those little bits of rain that make their way under your tarp wont diminish the loft of the quilt maintaining your warmth level during those showers you really just want to sleep through.

The Underquilt is also multi-functional, it can hang simply under your hammock so you can be warm but still see the stars, It can zip over the top of the hammock as well leaving you in a cocoon of hot air, protected from the rain, wind, snow.(We would still recommend you set up a tarp shelter in bad weather) Or it can be used like a regular sleeping bag if you have been unable to find a good spot for you hammock and decided to bivouac instead!
