Klean Kanteen have added a big burst of colour and a new, more environmentally-friendly coating as they freshen up their range for 2018.
We stock them because we think they're the best reusable water bottles and flasks on the market... and now it seems like they're even better. Klean Kanteen have launched a new range for 2018, including a cheerful blue (Pacific Sky), a strident scarlet (Mineral Red), and best of all a chirpy yellow (Lemon Curry), a great springtime addition to the Klean Kanteen family.
Choosing your Klean Kanteen
The new water bottles look great, but if you’re going to use your Klean Kanteen for hot beverages or cold drink, you’ll need an insulated flask. I prefer the wide mouth versions as they're more like a regular cup to drink out of, and they're easier to clean. You can buy different caps according to your preference. The café cap is best if you’re going to be using your Kanteen while driving – but you have to double check you’ve closed it properly to make sure it won’t leak in your bag. The loop cap is much more reliable – just tip it up once or twice to make sure it’s screwed on tight, and you can be 100% sure it won’t leak. Attach a carabiner and it will attach securely to a daypack.
We’ve found that every manufacturer is inclined to exaggerate the length of time their products will keep liquids hot or cold. Klean Kanteen promise their insulated Classic will keep cold liquids cold for up to 100 hours and hot liquids hot for up to 14 hours – the flask certainly holds a decent sized cup of tea or coffee but it will stay scalding hot for about 4 hours – hot for a few hours after that.
Klean Kanteen Clean and Care
It may seem like an extravagance, but I'd recommend you consider investing in a Klean Kanteen brush set. I was initially sceptical about the value of these, but they are specifically designed to get into the nooks and crannies, giving your Kanteen a deep clean and making sure there's no tannin stain left over from your cup of tea.
A greener Klean Kanteen
Arguably, the most interesting innovation for 2018 Is the new Klean Coat, a chip resistant, powder finish that Klean Kanteen say is four times more durable than the old matt or gloss versions. In addition, Klean Kanteen have upgraded their production methods and materials using an environmental auditing method known as GreenScreen – this has allowed them to reduce further the harmful chemicals used in the manufacturing process. Definite kudos for Klean Kanteen's continued improvement.
With this further guarantee, you can be sure that (if regularly used) your Klean Kanteen will massively reduce your environmental impact by cutting down on waste. It also means you're being kinder to yourself, by cutting out the possibility of BPA leaching into your beverage, as it can do when you use a plastic flask or bottle.
All in all, the 2018 Klean Kanteens will be a great addition to your collection...
