Outdoor Classroom Day is a campaign to celebrate play and learning outdoors and inspire schools everywhere to make outdoor learning and play part of every day. And Outdoor People are proud to be providing the leadership for it through our Director Cath Prisk!
Since last May Cath has been seconded for three days a week as the Global Partnerships manager, leading the development and growth of the campaign globally working for the amazing Project Dirt.
Cath has led the Playday and the Love Outdoor Play Campaigns. She's been a teacher and Deputy Head. She's worked with lots of Government organisations, corporates and charities to increase the importance of play and outdoor learning over the last 20 years. She built up the Free Time Consortium, a collective of play organisations sharing skills as well as jointly bidding for larger programmes. She is now seconded part time as a consultant to Project Dirt on this global campaign and loving working closely with the global Unilever Dirt is Good team to help this campaign go global.
To make this happen she is recruiting and supporting NGOs from around the world - the UK, Brazil, France, India, Canada ... to build their own Outdoor Classroom Day campaigns as well as supporting a global campaign.
Our Outdoor People mission is to make it easy to go outdoors. Our purpose, as set out in our Memorandum and Articles, is to raise awareness of the importance of going outdoors, to increase opportunities for outdoor learning and play and to increase access to advice and resources to help children get outdoors. This campaign couldn't be more perfect!
