Reconnecting Children to Nature - #GoWild
Our very first project was an extreme screening of the feature length documentary ‘Project Wild Thing’ at the top of Snowdon! The event was a collaboration between Outdoor People, the Plas y Brenin mountain sports centre, Outdoor Industries Association and The Wild Network.
We went up Snowdon with some Hackney families and friends from around the country, with a mini projector from the East London Design Store to do the wild screening.
This was one of a number of Project Wild Thing screenings in wild places across the UK, arranged to help celebrate National Children’s Day (#NCDUK) UK on 11th May. The weekend 10th – 11th May saw ‘wild’ screenings on Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike, the highest places in Scotland and England. Organised by the Save Childhood Movement, National Children’s Day UK is a nationwide celebration of the rights of the child.
This year the Day was devoted to reconnecting children with nature, and was a fantastic success, seeing mini wild screenings across the UK, making the point to local media, parents and politicians.
The Marketing Director of Nature would be proud!
