We are going CAMPING!
In partnership with Pearce Coggan Foundation, we will be taking 8 families on their first ever camping trip to Green Farm Kent during the May half-term school holidays - 31st May - 4th June.
Green Farm Kent is a 50 acre working conservation farm with Cattle, Sheep, Pigs and Chickens in addition to a Community Wildlife and Vegetable garden, this location enables children and families to immerse themselves in nature and interact with the animals and wildlife. The camping area, named Fairyland, is nestled in ancient woodland providing a safe but beautiful area for the camping experience.
Spending a few days completely immersed in nature, away from the stresses of everyday life, is healing, relaxing, rejuvenating, enriching… We facilitate a space for families to connect as a family, in community and as a part of nature.
We visit the pigs and chickens, go on foraging walks and make jam from the fruit that we find, learn to pitch tents and cook the rainbow of vegetables that Green Farm provide on our individual camp stoves, adventure in the woodlands - day and night and, of course, our legendary pizza nights!
Last year we began to develop some joint activities with the Pearce Coggan Foundation around healthy eating and sustainable farming practices. Helping children to learn about the land helps them to develop a greater connection with nature, and means they will be more likely to want to protect the planet when they grow up. We hope a better connection to food will also support healthier eating habits too.
With newly built eco toilets, we are able to provide dedicated toilets for the 'bubbles' of families - decorated by the children. We will also provide cooking gear for each family bubble. After reflecting and integrating our learning from our camps in August and October last year, we are confident we have cracked 'covid secure camping' for the camping trips ahead!
