Join us on Sunday 27th January for our first Wild Walk of 2019! We'll be exploring one of our favourite secret gardens before getting lost in the magical world of Abney Park Cemetery! Meeting at Stoke Newington Overground Station at 12.30pm.
We met at the Chinese Pagoda in Victoria Park. It was a beautiful blue sky and the park was scattered with autumn hues. We had twelve families join us for this wild walk, our biggest yet! We looped around the lake and onto the canal down to Mile End Park. Our picnic spot was under the old windmill in a secret nook surrounded by ponds.
There was not a cloud in the sky over Mabley Green, as ten families from around Hackney appeared from all directions to meet at the Big Rock for our first Wild Walk of the season.
The walk is around Hackney Marshes and Daubeney Fields. We will stop off for tea and play in the adventure park and some other great spots! All families will receive a map of the walk and an Outdoor Family Journal to record memories of your outdoor adventures.
We are super excited to announce that Hackney Council has awarded Outdoor People funding for another Wild Walks programme! This programme will run from October 2018 through to March 2019. We are calling for families to join us on monthly walks around the Hackney borough to explore, find places to play and connect to our gorgeous (slightly) wild places!
