While we’re not totally convinced about the ecological friendliness of fuel canister stoves in general, we do have to admit that they really are the lightest and most convenient cook systems and are perfect for lightweight back-packing and bike-packing adventures.
None more so than the Optimus Crux Lite. It is unbelievably light at only 72g and the large burner means it boils water even faster and more efficiently than the industry’s darling: MSR pocket rocket. The wide arms on the burner mean that pans are nice and stable and the controls allow for really easy simmering temperatures. You really couldn’t ask for more.
While it doesn’t fold up as neatly as some other stoves fewer moving parts means that there’s less to go wrong. It’s still incredibly easy to transport and is supplied with a mesh bag to stop it scratching pans if you stash it in there.
