Has the Internet Stolen Childhood?

Has the internet stolen childhood? If so how can we get it back?? Children as young as ten are on the internet for over 6 hours a day, babies use iPads better than parents, and a third of youngsters have a Facebook account. Should you worry? Or can the internet - phones, tablets, laptops, desktops - be a force to connect your kids with the ‘great outdoors’? At various points over this summer I'll be running a fun and practical workshop where you’ll relive your own ‘ludic geography’, debate the pros and cons of screen time and gain the skills to possibly save the world… This workshop will be available at The Bushcraft Show in May and can be booked at Wilderness Festival, tickets are available from their store (Buy tickets). I'll also be running it at the wonderful Exhale Festival on the last August Bank Holiday, and possibly again in London. Do let me know if you have favourite anecdotes, apps or articles looking at any aspect of this subject, the workshop series is basically a summer long conversation... Looking forward to what we'll find out! [image credit: Hugo Philpott/Project Wild Thing]
