We're all set to return to Kent for our annual Outdoor Family Camping expedition! But we need just a couple more volunteers...
Could you join us? If so please email us.
What is Outdoor Family Camping?
Outdoor Family Camping is open to families with younger children who have not been camping before, or could not otherwise afford to go. It’s a chance to enjoy a few days in the countryside, learn how to pitch a tent and gain the confidence you need to go camping yourself. Children will get to run barefoot, make pizza with vegetables they have picked, pick blackberries, climb trees and play outdoors all day.

We have a great crew of volunteers, but we are taking an extra few families this year so we need a couple more volunteers to help, especially with pack down. Duties including putting up and taking down tents, and helping clear the site, or back in Hackney helping us check and pack everything back t the lock up ready for the next event.
In return you get to camp in one of the loveliest ancient woodland and have lots of fun with like minded folks, knowing you are helping folks have an experience they couldn't otherwise have.
We are raising funds to take three extra families this year, can you help?_______________________
After the summer project, we will arrange for extra meet-ups in green spaces in and around London for anyone who has taken part. The families can also hire or borrow camping equipment from us if they'd like to go on your own adventures.
When does it take place?
Outdoor Family Camping 2018 will take place from 13 – 16th August (volunteering is around these dates).
How much does it cost?
We ask for a small contribution of £40 to help cover food and firewood – however, no-one’s turned away due to lack of funds.
We provide a filling, tasty and health, mostly vegetarian selection of food, with a group meal every evening and food to make your own meals the rest of the day. If you don't have a tent we can probably help, though it may be small. Children and well behaved dogs welcome.
If you are also a camping novice there will be lots of opportunity to learn, and lots of people to learn with. We do expect that you will have been camping at least a couple of times and that you can help others to enjoy themselves.
We will provide safeguarding and health and safety training. Its all about risk-benefit - hazards bad, challenge good.
Where does it take place?
The campsite is on Green Farm Kent, near Ashford. The campsite is set in five acres of woodland, which is bounded by a fence, so children can play and explore out of sight whilst still within parent’s hearing.
How do I get there?
The site is about five miles away from Ashford station which is an hour or so out of London. There is parking available on site if you’d like to drive yourself. We could possibly offer a minibus to pick up in from the station.
