Outdoor Family Camping - Green Farm Kent 6th - 9th August OR 9th - 12th August 2017

We're running a couple of 3-night, 4-day magical camping trips for families who haven't been camping before or haven't been for a while. Perhaps you went camping as a child but you aren't sure how to get back into it ... this is your chance!

You’ll learn how to put up a tent, cook over a gas stove and an open fire. Children will have the chance to roam, climb trees, build dens, feed the animals and make new friends.

This family camping holiday is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and Outdoor People, so it will only cost £20 per family (which can be waived where needed).

How to apply

Places are very limited, so if you think you would like to come, or know some families that would like to join us, please get in touch as soon as possible. Simply email: Exhale@outdoorpeople.org.uk

Dates

  • First Outdoor Family Camping: Sunday 6th - Wednesday 9th August
  • Second Outdoor Family Camping:Wednesday 9th - Saturday 12th August

 Let us know…

  • How many adults and how many children (and their relationship to the adult)
  • Whether you’d like to come on the first or second trip
  • Any allergies/special needs and any other information you think we’ll need.

Cost

All we ask for is £20 towards food and firewood. You’ll also need to get yourself to Ashford train station in Kent. We can help with the cost of train travel if needed.

Venue

Green Farm Kent, Church Lane, Shadoxhurst, near Ashford, Kent, TN26 1LS.

About Green Farm

The campsite is in a small wood with a fence all round so there’s no chance that kids can get lost. It has a compost loo and a camping kitchen, and we have use of a proper toilet and shower up at the farm, which is a ten-minute walk away. We’ll be joined by a few volunteers - including families that came last year - to help put up tents, cook, lead walks to discover the local woods and maybe even play some music or tell some stories. The farmers also come to visit, show us the farm and may let us feed the chickens and piglets…

I’d like to come … but I’m not sure about camping

There are all sorts of reasons families find it hard to get away: a lack of kit, lack of transport or simply because they've been going through a hard time.

At Outdoor People we're trying to provide an easy way to get back to nature. Every family who comes on one of our trips is provided with a tent, mattresses and sleeping bags, and all food and cooking kit too. We’ll help you to settle in, so you can be sure you’ll have a comfortable stay, and we’ll have some communal meals and optional activities.

If you want to see what we got up to last year, take a look here:

If you can't come but would like to borrow kit, do ask! We have kit available to lend and hire and there are still a few available weekends over the summer. Please share your outdoor thoughts with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, and share this event. We are super proud of the first Big Lottery grant and we’re looking forward to welcoming families to Green Farm!
