Outdoor Family Camping 2018

Outdoor Family Camping 2018

We're all set to return to Kent for our annual Outdoor Family Camping expedition!

Outdoor Family Camping is open to families with younger children who have not been camping before, or could not otherwise afford to go. It’s a chance  to enjoy a few days in the countryside, learn how to pitch a tent and gain the confidence you need to go camping yourself. Children will get to run barefoot, make pizza with vegetables they have picked, pick blackberries, climb trees and play outdoors all day.

We are raising funds to take three extra families this year, can you help?

After the summer project, we will arrange for extra meet-ups in green spaces in and around London for anyone who has taken part. You can also hire or borrow camping equipment from us if you’d like to go on your own adventures.

When does it take place?

Outdoor Family Camping 2018 will take place from 13 – 16th August

How much does it cost?

We ask for a small contribution from families (£40) to help cover food and firewood – however, no-one’s turned away due to lack of funds.

What can we expect?

When you arrive some of the OP team will help you settle in to your tent, mattress and lay out sheets, duvets and sleeping bags. Everyone will then go for a big explore to get familiar with the farm. Dinner will be around the fire.

Breakfasts are between 8-9am, dinner between 5-7pm. There is snack food and cheese sandwiches available at lunch time.

There will be lots of opportunity to learn all the little things about camping like how to put up a tent, how to cook over gas and open fires, and what to do when it rains (and how that’s still lots of fun!). We will go for some walks, feed the chickens and pigs, and climb lots of trees.

You just need to bring your clothes and personal stuff, we’ll provide the tents and everything else needed for camping.

Where does it take place?

The campsite is on Green Farm Kent, near Ashford. The campsite is set in five acres of woodland, which is bounded by a fence, so children can play and explore out of sight whilst still within parent’s hearing.

How do I get there?

The site is about five miles away from Ashford station which is an hour or so out of London. There is parking available on site if you’d like to drive yourself. We will also offer a minibus to pick up in London and take us straight there.
